Putting web sites out there is an ongoing endeavor. Using social booking is one way to promote a website. Actually, it is more of a way to promote to search engines than to real people. There was a time when people would list links and then see what online friends had as links. There was also a time when these social bookmarking sites would generate a most linked site, then people would visit the most popular to see what was up with it. As with all things people grew weary of the social bookmarking sites (no longer new) and other endeavors took their attention like MySpace or Twitter. Also, the number of bookmarking sites grew and the few people remaining were diluted among the competitors. Eventually, it comes that as a group people do not follow social bookmarking sites like they once did.

That doesn’t mean that social bookmarking is dead. People still need somewhere to put their bookmarks and want them transportable, more now than ever about being transportable. Plus, they still have the benefit of being out there for people or search engines to trip over for us web guys.

There is a
XRiot Spurl set of bookmarks available. Wouldn’t say these are complete list of links but it is an ongoing effort. Visit Spurl.
